CHANGES  to UTAH ELECTION LAW

Ballot Return Deadline Change

As of May 7, 2025, Utah Election Code § 20A-3a-204 now specifies that all ballots must be received by the County Clerk's Office no later than 8:00pm on Election Day to be counted. Post mark dates are no longer relevant. Mail or return your ballot early to ensure your vote is counted.

New Ballot Return Envelope Requirements

Starting this election year, Moab and Grand County voters will be asked to provide either the last four digits of their Driver License/State ID OR their Social Security Number in addition to their signature on their ballot reply envelope. 

The signature and digits will be concealed under the flap of the envelope, so be sure to fill in all relevant sections before sealing your ballot envelope. See Utah Code § 20a-3a-202(9) and § 20a-3a-204(2).

The 2025 municipal election will be conducted by mail, and ballot counting will be administered through the Grand County Clerk's Office. 

Ballots may be returned by mail or dropped off in person at the Moab City Recorder's Office, 217 E. Center Street, 2nd floor, or the Grand County Clerk's Office, 125 E. Center Street.

This will be a Vote by Mail election.
Active registered voters will receive a ballot in the mail about three weeks before the election. There are several ways to return your ballot.

  • By Mail –A postage-paid envelope is provided for your convenience. Mailed ballots must be returned no later than November 3, 2025.
  • In Person – Ballots may be returned in person to the Grand County Clerk's Office, 125 E. Center Street, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or to the Ballot Drop Box in the City of Moab Recorder's Office, 217 E. Center Street, 2nd floor, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays. 
  • November 4, Election Day - The Grand County Clerk's Office, 125 E. Center Street, and the Drop Box at Moab City Hall, 217 E. Center Street, will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Do not mail your ballot on Election Day. 
    Ballots may be returned in person on Election Day at the City of Moab Recorder's Office or the Grand County Clerk's Office.
  • Residents who did not register to vote by the 2025 voter registration deadline, can register to vote at the early voting location at the Grand County Clerk/Auditor's Office in the Grand County Courthouse at 125 E. Center Street, or on Election Day at the Grand County Clerk/Auditor's Office. Two forms of identification, including one that shows current address, are required to register and voters who register on Election Day will cast their votes using provisional ballots.

Choose How You Want to Vote

Beginning in 2029, you will not receive a ballot by mail unless you request to receive a ballot by mail. To notify Grand County Elections of your voting preference, contact our office or update your voter registration online at vote.utah.gov
