HOW TO QUALIFY
Eligibility
Homeowners and Renters may qualify if household income is within 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) or if they participate in programs such as SNAP, TANF, WIC, Medicaid, SSI, or Free/Reduced Lunch.
The income level changes increase the income levels that qualify, expanding the number of households and residents on fixed incomes who meet eligibility requirements.
Homeowners: Must live within city limits and have an active utility account in their name.
Renters: Must have a valid lease within city limits and documentation showing they pay utilities directly or through rent.
If utilities are included in rent, the City may issue the subsidy to the landlord/property manager, provided they confirm in writing that the benefit will directly reduce the renter’s housing costs.
If that confirmation can’t be obtained, the City may pay the renter directly after verification.
Qualifying applicants may receive a utility account credit of up to $40 per month
