Property Taxes

The City of Moab has had a property tax in place for many decades. However, in 1992, the City Council set the property tax at 0% (zero). In 2024, the City Council, for the first time in 24 years, voted to increase the property tax rate. The current rate is .002149, which resulted in an approximately 19.7% increase in property taxes for properties located within city limits. The Council has determined that the property tax revenues will be dedicated to capital improvement projects and facility and equipment maintenance and repairs.

Property taxes are also collected by Grand County, the Grand School District, and various local and regional taxing entities (water conservancy, mosquito abatement, fire protection, etc.)
